Class Requirements

Read these requirements carefully, since you will not be refunded or rescheduled if you do not abide by them

The purpose of this class

Our curriculum is based upon the latest research of both motorcycle- related crash statistics and adult learning principals, and is designed for beginners who have never sat upon a motorcycle before. In your first riding session you will learn where the controls are, how to use them and then to ride.  Most beginners are riding within the first few exercises!

While most beginning students are able to pass this class the first time they take it, it is not uncommon to be counseled out so you may come back for more repetition, since everyone learns at a different pace

However, the purpose of this class is to create safer riders out of the average beginning motorcyclist, NOT to make it easy to get a license

There is no guarantee you will pass

We LOVE it when students come back over and over in an effort to learn to ride and improve their skill and we will root for you and do everything we can to help a diligent student to succeed, BUT there is no guarantee you will pass this class

If you are counseled out

If you are counseled out our policy allows instructors to waive the standby fee so students may come back as often as they are able in a 6 month period

If you do not pass

If you do not pass the written or skill test our policy allows instructors to waive the standby fee so students may come back as a standby student as often as they are able in a 6 month period

Be on time

Instructors are REQUIRED to start on time since the very strict time requirements of our curriculum creates the optimal learning environment for the most number of students, so once class has begun you will no longer be allowed into it.

Even if it looks to you as if class has not yet begun, that does not mean you are correct.

Avoid this issue by finding the riding area the day BEFORE your riding sessions are scheduled for so you are able to arrive on time or give yourself extra time to get lost!

If your start time is 6am then you must arrive prepared with your ID, required gear, etc.(ON YOUR PERSON, not in your car!), by 5:45am AT THE LATEST or you will be 15 minutes late and will not be able to join the class

Use the maps, GPS and other details about how to find us and where to park at the bottom of this page for helpful tips about how find us and where to park

You will not be refunded or rescheduled if you are unprepared(late), but you may be eligible to come back as a standby student for a reduced fee

Sign our waiver

You must sign our waiver at least 3 working days before your class begins so the office has enough time to approve it, since instructors do not have time to wait for you to sign when you get to the riding sessions

You will not be refunded or rescheduled if you are unprepared(for instance, did not sign the waiver 3 days before), but you may be eligible to come back as a standby student for a reduced fee

Gear

The State of California has very strict gear requirements that we are required to adhere to, so we do not have any wiggle room on what we allow you to wear.

You will not be refunded or rescheduled if you are unprepared, but you may be eligible to come back as a standby student for a reduced fee

Identification

You must use the same valid, government- issued photo ID to sign your waiver and have it on your person for all portions of your class. We are NOT allowed to accept pictures of IDs

You will not be refunded or rescheduled if you are unprepared, but you may be eligible to come back as a standby student for a reduced fee

Minors

Parents/guardians must sign our waiver, present a valid, government issued photo ID and come in- person(yes, even though you signed a digital waiver and took a picture of yourself and your ID) to the first in- person session. Minors must also present their own valid photo ID. A school ID is adequate as long as it is a photo ID

You will not be refunded or rescheduled if you are unprepared(including no parent/guardian present at check in), but you may be eligible to come back as a standby student for a reduced fee

Food and water

You must bring PLENTY of snacks and drinks, ESPECIALLY PLENTY OF WATER!!!

To get the best results

eRider is designed to be completed after you read the MTC Handbook/ Curso de Capacitación del Motociclista

Skill test

The skill test takes place at the end of the second riding day. It consists of exercises based upon those that were practiced earlier in the day.

One retest is allowed. The retest shall not be on the same day as the failure

Scooter reservations

Scooters are not available at our Vallejo school. Scooters must be requested at least two weeks before your riding sessions begin

Bringing your own scooter

You must make arrangements with the office, sign a private vehicle waiver and keep proof of insurance and registration with you at all times

Positive attitude

You will be asked to leave and you will not be eligible for a refund, to be rescheduled, or to return to our school under any circumstances if you display threatening, obscene, or inappropriate behavior or messages of any kind and/or toward other students, toward our instructors or any one else. If the instructor suspects any kind of impairment/intoxication of any kind with any drug, including alcohol or any other legal, illegal, prescription and/or over- the- counter substance(s), and/or if you intentionally or unintentionally interfere with other student’s enjoyment of the class you will be counseled out of the class and will not be eligible to come back under any circumstances

Attend all sessions in order within 60 days

The State of California requires that all students attend all sessions in full and in order within a 60 day period in order to earn a skill test waiver

Due to this requirement, if you are counseled out or fail a test you must complete your class within 60 days in order to earn the DMV certificate, though you may still come back to practice for the remaining time you have as a standby student until you feel you are ready to pass

As long as you come back as a standby student the only extra cost will be a new eRider account
